A look at some of the books behind Mating In Captivity

I recently decided to pull out some of the books that sat on my desk when I wrote Mating In Captivity. These books were, and still are, my companions, my advisors, and my mentors. Some of them, like this copy of The Double Flame by Octavio Paz, are objects I treasure. Of course, many of them have disappeared over the years—some of the most important ones too, because I’m always lending them out—replaced by new volumes that, while written more recently, have become important voices in conversation with Mating.
